The Gombe National Park is located on the western border of Tanzania and the Congo. Established in 1968, It is one of the smallest national parks in Tanzania with only 35 km2 of protected land along the hills of the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. It is a famous place for those who want to see chimpanzees off the beaten track. Guided hikes take visitors into the forest to see chimpanzees in the wild. The area has steep valleys and the forest vegetation ranges from grassland to forest and tropical rainforest.
The primary activity in Gombe is chimpanzee tracking. Accompanied by experienced guides, visitors can trek through the forest to observe and learn about the daily lives of the habituated chimpanzee families.
Gombe is home to a variety of bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The park's diverse habitats, including forests and lakeshore areas, attract an array of avian residents.
Explore the waters of Lake Tanganyika on a boat safari. This activity provides an opportunity to view the park from a different perspective and offers a chance to encounter aquatic wildlife along the lakeshore.
Explore the park's trails on foot to discover its varied ecosystems. Hiking allows for a more intimate experience with the flora and fauna of Gombe, from vibrant butterflies to unique plant species.
We look forward to introducing you to the natural beauty of this magnificent country.
