Visa Types

Tanzania offers several types of visas depending on your purpose of visit:

  • Tourist Visa: This is the most common visa for travellers visiting Tanzania for leisure, holidays, or wildlife safaris. It’s valid for up to 90 days.
  • Business Visa: If your visit involves business-related activities such as meetings, conferences, or negotiations, you’ll need a business visa.
  • Transit Visa: If you’re passing through Tanzania to another destination and will not leave the airport, a transit visa is sufficient.
  • Also, there are countries which do not reguire a visa to enter Tanzania here is the link for their list https://www.immigration.go.tz/index.php/countries-which-are-not-required-to-apply-for-visa

Visa Fees

Visa fees vary depending on your nationality and the type of visa you’re applying for. Check the official Tanzanian government website or consult with your nearest Tanzanian embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date information.

Visa Application Process:

You have two primary options for obtaining a Tanzanian visa:

Apply in Advance:

  • Visit the official website of the Tanzanian Immigration Services Department to complete the online visa application form.
  • Upload your passport, a passport-sized photo, and a copy of your flight itinerary.
  • Pay the visa fee online using a credit or debit card.
  • Wait for the processing of your e-visa, which usually takes a few business days.
  • Once approved, download and print your e-visa to present upon arrival in Tanzania.

Visa on Arrival:

  • Travelers from eligible countries can obtain a visa on arrival at major Tanzanian entry points, including international airports and border crossings.
  • Ensure you have a valid passport with at least six months of validity, a passport-sized photo, and sufficient funds for your stay.
  • Visa fees must be paid in cash (USD) upon arrival.

Important Consideration

  • Double-check the specific visa requirements and eligibility based on your nationality before travelling.
  • Keep a copy of your visa, passport, and other essential documents in a safe place during your trip.
  • Make sure your passport has enough blank pages for visa stamps.
  • If you plan to visit neighbouring countries and return to Tanzania, request a multiple-entry visa.
