Hadzabe & Datoga Tribe Tour (Lake Eyasi)

Early morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive toward Lake Eyasi, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, you will meet the Hadzabe people, one of the last true hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa. Accompanied by a local guide, learn about their traditional way of life, including hunting techniques using bows and arrows, food gathering, fire-making, and their deep connection with nature. Guests may join a short hunting walk and observe daily activities, always conducted respectfully and with permission.

After spending time with the Hadzabe, continue to a nearby Datoga community. The Datoga are skilled pastoralists and blacksmiths, known for crafting tools, jewelry, and arrowheads using traditional methods. You’ll have the opportunity to watch blacksmithing demonstrations, learn about their cattle-based culture, and interact with community members.

Later in the day, enjoy a packed lunch or lunch at a local lodge near Lake Eyasi, followed by a short walk around the lakeshore to observe birdlife and learn about the area’s natural environment. In the afternoon, begin the drive back to Arusha or Moshi, arriving in the early evening.
