Day 0: Arrival and Pre-climb Briefing

Program Summary: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport JRO (time to be confirmed) , you will be met and transferred for overnight accommodation – B&B. Your head guide will meet you for your briefing, and gear check, and arrange for you to hire any equipment you may need.

Day 1: Arusha National Park (Momella Gate) to Miriakamba Hut

You will be picked up early from your hotel in Arusha and driven to Meru Gate in Arusha National Park. After registration and a brief orientation, you will start trekking through lush rainforest, spotting monkeys, tropical birds, and other wildlife along the trail. The hike is moderate and scenic, with gentle ascents through dense forest. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Merrill Hut, where you will rest, enjoy a warm meal, and take in views of the Meru Crater and surrounding landscapes.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut to Little Meru peak (optional)

You will wake up early for the summit push. The trail leads through bamboo and moorland zones, gradually ascending toward the peak. You will take breaks to rest, hydrate, and admire panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding plains. Eventually, you will reach the summit of Mount Meru at 4,566 meters, enjoying breathtaking vistas of the crater and, on clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After taking in the views and celebrating your achievement, you will descend back to Merrill Hut for rest, a hearty meal, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Momella gate to Arusha

You will trek down through the forest and moorland, retracing the trail back to Meru Gate. Along the way, you will enjoy the scenery, spot wildlife, and reflect on your climb. Once at the gate, you will be driven back to Arusha, concluding the trek with lasting memories of one of Tanzania’s most spectacular mountains.
