Day 0: Arrival and Pre-climb Briefing

Program Summary: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport JRO (time to be confirmed), you will be met and transferred for overnight accommodation – B&B. Your head guide will meet you for your briefing, and gear check, and arrange for you to hire any equipment you may need.

Day 1: Arusha to Momella gate to Miriakamba Hut

You will be picked up early from your hotel in Arusha and driven to Meru Gate in Arusha National Park. After registration and briefing, you will begin trekking through lush rainforest, spotting monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. The trail gradually ascends as you walk along streams and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will reach Miriakamba Hut in the afternoon, where you will rest, enjoy a warm meal, and take in views of the surrounding forest and volcanic terrain.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut to Little Meru peak (optional)

You will wake up early and continue trekking through bamboo forests and open moorland zones, gradually ascending toward the mountain’s saddle area. Along the way, you will enjoy panoramic views, spot unique alpine vegetation, and observe the changing landscape as you gain altitude. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Saddle Hut, your camp for the night, which offers incredible views of the Meru Crater and distant plains. You will rest, have dinner, and prepare for the summit attempt.

Day 3: Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Miriakamba Huts

You will start very early in the morning for the summit push. The trail leads through moorland and volcanic terrain, with several short breaks to rest and enjoy the panoramic views. You will reach the summit of Mount Meru at 4,566 meters, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Meru Crater, the surrounding mountains, and on clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro. After soaking in the scenery, you will descend back to Saddle Hut for rest, refreshments, and a well-earned meal.

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate to Arusha

You will begin your descent early, retracing the trail through moorland and rainforest down to Miriakamba Hut for a short rest and refreshments. From there, you will continue to the Meru Gate, enjoying the forest scenery and wildlife one last time. After completing the trek, you will be driven back to Arusha, concluding your 4-day Mount Meru climb.
